Alfriston Heartstart Voluntary Community Responders in conjunction with South East Coast Ambulance Service was set Up to train a team of Volunteers to use Defibrillators and to attend certain types of 999 calls once dispatched by Ambulance Control to aid patients before the Ambulance arrives.
The initial team were trained by Joe Marshall, Community Defibrillation Officer and trained Paramedic who works for South East Coast Ambulance Service, we are very grateful to Joe for all this help, encouragement and Training getting our responders up and running and for his continued support.
Ongoing training and support is also given to us from South East Coast Ambulance Service.
Our thanks also go to Colin our Co-Ordinator who runs our Team and is always there if we need back up or support.
We are a dedicated team of people who live or work in Alfriston, and where possible we cover the Village 24/7, at present there are 9 trained responders.
Our Team is as Follows:-
Colin:- (Retired Paramedic) Team Co-Ordinator and Responder.
Sarah, Hera, Jane, Mark & Helen are all trained Responders.
Jan is the Webdesigner
Jen is the Team Secretary. (Non Responder)
Anthony is our Treasurer (Non Responder)
Christine is our Fundraising Organiser (Non Responder)
Christine also has a Team of Fundraiser's including Adrian (Fundraising Secretary),Christine, Sylvia, Anthony & Jen
We hold meetings once a month to discuss our fundraising or talk of any problems we may have we also use this time for ongoing training which is vital for the group.
